Maslenitsa Russian Festival

Zdravstvui Maslenitsa! The Russian Sun Festival, which celebrates the arrival of spring, features a week of cultural events across London, culminating in a day of celebration in Trafalgar Square that combines theatre, dance, music and food from across the country. Stalls in Trafalgar Square will sell Russian art, crafts and souvenirs, and food ranging from beef stroganoff and pelmeni (Russian-style pasta) to blini, while the children's marquee promises performances from the award-winning Theatre Chudaki. As the festival falls this year between the Olympic and Paralympic sections of the Winter Games in Sochi, there will also be a sporting theme.
