Covering only a small part of one of London’s quirkiest streets, Hoxton Street Market is supposedly open Monday to Saturday 7.30am-6pm. In reality nothing takes place apart from on Saturdays, and the stalls remain empty and parked on the streets throughout the week. This is a surprisingly practical market, selling fresh food, clothing and household goods: it’s where original Hackney locals gather for weekend shopping and bargain-hunting. The atmosphere is relaxed, and refreshment comes in the form of breakfasts served until 5pm.
