A little gem on hip Exmouth Market, Family Tree offers a carefully chosen selection of designer-made gifts, homeware and accessories sourced from all around the globe. Owner Takako Copeland makes sure the shop’s wares have an eco slant, with plenty of Fairtrade and organic cotton represented in the stock; but the main draw is her delicate lamps, made from Japanese rice paper. A diminutive version costs around £20; £65 will get you the tallest shade plus the base. A few pretty pieces point to Copeland’s past as a jeweller – like the rice paper patterns of birds and butterflies encased in resin.
