Burberry, established back in 1856, continues to place great emphasis on its Britishness. The fashion house’s iconic macs, still made in Birmingham, remain investment pieces that will justify the heavy price tag (£700 plus), but the brand is also known for its simple polo tops, knits and narrow menswear lines, its fragrance range, and its accessories, such as scarves, bags and umbrellas in the distinctive and much-copied tan, black and red Burberry Check tartan. Sharp tailoring can be found in the Burberry Prorsum line, designed by Creative Director Christopher Bailey, while the Burberry Brit and Burberry London ranges are more casual and youthful.
