The first floor of the UK’s best organic supermarket is devoted to a mall-style food court. It has the usual pizza, burger and sushi joints – organic, of course – but, since 2010, it’s also had a branch of Saf, the Shoreditch raw vegan café-restaurant that was originally in Shoreditch but that closed early in 2012.
This west London outpost has none of the cool of its now closed Shoreditch counterpart, but it makes a nice change from the massed wine bars and ale houses of Kensington. The bar’s USP is organic ingredients – even the spirits, which should help get your chakras open while the alcohol’s killing off your brain cells.
The short list of cocktails are well made, and staff are friendly. Saf’s USP, however, is its raw food. There are also carefully calibrated juice blends and a good cocktail menu.
