The name and pub sign of this place, right by Acton Central station, celebrate railway pioneer George Stephenson. The airy, light interior is large enough to incorporate disparate decorative impulses: there’s an area for dining at the back, decked out like a 1920s hotel suite, for instance.
The long bar, however, feels like a proper bar, embellished as it is by tributes to the team line-up of Acton United FC. Harveys Sussex Best, Fuller’s London Pride, Hoegaarden and Grolsch are the beer taps.
The provision of Connect 4, Ludo and Scrabble help make this an ideal weekend kick-back spot.
