This Holloway Road Vietnamese restaurant is run by a pair of brothers who grew up in Vietnam. Their aim here is to bring the authentic flavours of their mother country to Islington, via this simple spot close to Holloway Road tube.
The menu ranges from fresh summer rolls, papaya salads and canh chua (a hot and sour soup from south Vietnam) to pho noodle soups, steamed sea bass with ginger and spring onion, bun cha and chim cút nuöng - a dish of char-grilled quail rubbed with honey and spices.
Desserts include green bean paste with coconut milk and ice, and ché khoai môn - a creamy taro rice pudding with coconut cream. Strong Vietnamese coffee - with or without condensed milk - is also available.
