Nanny Outars – named after the Guyanese grandmother of owner Chris Hogan – keeps it simple with a small menu of traditional roti with different fillings, freshly made and lovingly rolled on the spot. A cramped single shipping container at Boxpark Croydon is the first permanent home for Hogan’s stall, which has been touring markets and festivals since 2014. Try Nanny’s classic chicken, opt for a veggie chickpea version or swap roti for rice – and add trimmings of jerk-pickled cucumber, coconut yoghurt and Nanny’s Ball o’ Fire chilli sauce.
