The strapline for this popular Clapton spot is ‘stews and brews’. Expect, then, plenty of one-pot dishes and a fair bit of beer, too. Fun factoid: Maeve's Kitchen is named after Maeve Binchy - the late novelist and playwright. We think she’d probably approve of the rustic charm here.
She might also appreciate their approach to poetic license - the menu offers much more than just stews. Dishes range from rump steak with chimichurri, and confit salmon with a fennel mousse to sea bass carpaccio with yuzu and truffle oil dressing, and pork involtini with potato gratin, wilted spinach and an orange dressing. Weekend brunches of BLTs, English breakfasts and herbed garlic mushrooms and goat’s cheese bruschetta do brisk business.
And the brews? Well they cover bottled beers from Pressure Drop and Wild Card but also freshly brewed coffee. Plus there’s a short wine list and soft drinks such as Dalston Cola.
