Honest Burgers has gone the way of Byron, opening the umpteenth branch of their fine burger operation in a matter of mere months; McDonald’s, look out. When a chain expands this fast their initial fan base can ebb away, but in this case, there’s still a great deal to be happy about. The service was as chipper as ever on our visit, and the burgers and chips seasoned with rosemary salt were perfectly up to the standard of their other branches. Our waitress recommended the newest dish on the menu, the ‘special’, as having more kick than some of the longer-standing fixtures, and she was right – the mayo had a chilli hit, and the ‘tobacco onions’ (fried shreds, spicy) added a little extra oomph too. The interior looks suitably hipster with a fixie bike mounted, like a taxidermy trophy, halfway up a bare brick wall; Tooting’s the new Shoreditch, after all.
