Despite the English-sounding name, Bread Tree is 100 per cent Italian, serving piadina Romagnola – a sort of cross between a calzone and a giant taco, in this case made with gluten-free flour. Fillings are limited to ‘meaty’ and ‘veggie’, both consisting of a decent portion of fresh mozzarella, pesto and tomatoes, one topped with Parma ham and the other with mushrooms. There’s also a decent selection of bruschetta and Italian wines, and staff are super-friendly.
Other locations include:
Southbank Centre Food Market (behind Royal Festival Hall, most weekends)
