Blackbird Bakery

This bakery and café in Balham's Hildreth Street market is a branch of a small chain with branches across south London such as Herne Hill and Crystal Palace. The breads and baking are fine, if not a very extensive range. The breakfast selection is very limited, with no hot food, unless you count toast (topped with, for example, smashed avocado). Our coffee was mediocre when compared to other excellent options available nearby. As a breakfast and brunch spot it has a very long way to go to approach the standards of M1lk or Brickwood Café, which are also on Hildreth Street. It does, however, not have the queues of its neighbours.
