After the closure of long-standing Camden LGBT venue The Black Cap – and other venue closures around London – it's encouraging to find that new venues are actually still opening. Bloc Bar comes from the team behind popular east London gay bar East Bloc and looks like it'll take a similar approach. It's a two-floored, industrial-feel space and will be open seven days from August, with a varied programme of DJ nights, burlesque, cabaret (in homage to The Black Cap) and one-off parties Music will be varied, but expect a fair bit of pop, R&B, commercial house and club anthems. It'll likely attract a predominantly gay crowd, but it's very much open to all to enjoy.
