The Shacklewell Arms occupies the position in fashionable hearts that was held by the Old Blue Last in the past: with the balance of asymmetrical haircut power having moved to Dalston, it was inevitable this quirkily decorated gaff would steal its thunder.

It's done so by booking the most hotly-tipped rising talent to become the new go-to venue for new music showcases, hosting a triumphant secret gig by The Horrors to launch their great-leap-forward album ‘Skying’ in 2011 and a residency by next big things Toy in 2012. Oh, and Skrillex played a tiny and incredibly sweaty show here too.
