The Southbank Centre's annual NYE shebang, which takes over the main hall and Clore Ballroom and offers live musical entertainment plus a (terrace) vantage point for watching the Thames-side fireworks display, weather permitting. Among the musical treats, hugely promising and off-kilter four-piece Maia play kooky folk-pop using banjos, uke and brass. As well as Ethio-jazzers KC, Norma Waterson's and Martin Carthy's daughter promises something intriguingly off-centre in support. Plus DJs, a silent disco and more.
