Akram Khan's 'ITMOI' – it stands for 'In the Mind of Igor' – is a work inspired by Igor Stravinsky's iconic score for the 'Rite of Spring'. Khan draws on the themes of the original ballet and the way in which Stravinsky broke new ground with his music. He won't actually be using the original music, instead commissioning a new score from three composers: Jocelyn Pook, Nitin Sawhney and Ben Frost. Khan has been surfing a wave of great success over the last couple of years, with across-the-board acclaim for his solo show 'Desh' and his appearance at the Olympic Opening Ceremony, and this is his first full company work since 2010's 'Vertical Road', featuring a cast of 12 dancers.
