We asked seven DJs how they picked five tracks to play at a huge twentieth birthday party for Bugged Out
5 years: The time it’s taken for Eastern Electrics to graduate from London’s warehouse scene to this year’s enormous outdoor weekend festival.
32 minutes: The length of a train journey from King’s Cross to the site. The festival has moved out of the city to Knebworth in order that the raving can go on later and louder.
523 years: The length of time there’s been a house on the Knebworth estate. It’s only been 39 years since music events started happening there, usually of the dad rock variety. We’ll take the classy techno of Gerd and Prosumer over Dire Straits any day.
129 DJs: That’s how many jocks will be gracing the festival’s six stages, including new jack dance heroes Bicep and Eats Everything, house supergroup Hot Natured, icy techno lord Richie Hawtin, and a more soulful set from recent disco convert Skream.
40 hours: The total amount of time you can spend dancing, from 2pm on Friday to 10pm on Sunday – if you’ve got the stamina of Mo Farah, of course.
£30: The cheapest ticket price, which gets you access for Sunday only. A three-day camping pass will set you back £145, while boutique camping and VIP options are also available.
90,700kgs: The total weight of 40 metal shipping containers used to construct the festival’s open-air Switchyard stage. We assume getting them onsite was absolute shipping hell.
4.5 hours: That’s how long we’ll be spending rooted to the spot in the Substation arena on Friday, as four of Time Out’s favourite bass-tickling ’ave-it merchants – Joy Orbison, Jackmaster, Spencer and Blawan – all play one after another.
8 letters: Speaking of spooky and cerebral techno star Blawan, it took just eight letters for him to express his Twitter dismay at having one of his songs ‘remixed’ (aka butchered) by pantomime dubstep villain Skrillex. His exact words: ‘fuck sake’.
103,478 LED lights: The total number of lights that’ll be shining in the Electric City – a hub situated away from the music that’ll be running all weekend long. Ravers after a change of pace can head down for games, a roller disco, karaoke, and dress-up fun. They’ve also got 6kg of glitter on standby too...
2 hours, 20 minutes: The time we estimate it would take a sweaty raver to wash off 6kg of glitter using a pack of wet wipes.
