Feeling a bit blue today? If you live in Barking and Dagenham, we don't blame you - apparently it's the worst place to live in the whole of the UK. The research comes from Rightmove's 'Happy at Home' index, which polled nearly 25,000 people to rank their area for safety, amenities and 'neighbourliness'. They've put together a map of the results, which show happy spots in green and unhappy areas in red. As you can see, the grass ain't looking too green within the M25.

But it's not all doom and gloom, there are a few cheery postcodes in London including Richmond upon Thames, which was voted the happiest place in the capital. Outside of London, Harrogate in Yorkshire scooped the top spot for the happiest place to live in the UK, for the third year in a row. But to live there you'd have to leave London and probably write a think-piece about it - and no one needs that.

Here's the full list of the worst places to live in the UK:

1. Barking and Dagenham

2. Hounslow

3. Brent

4. Harrow

5. Newham

6. Tower Hamlets

7. Greenwich

8. Luton

9. Hillingdon

10. Haringey

Explore the map and find out how your area ranks.

Or take a look at this map that plots the gladdest and glummest postcodes in London.
