London's most controversial crossing has divided opinion since the plans were announced back in November 2013. But, like it or not, it looks like the Garden Bridge is one step closer to actually happening, as the construction contracts have been signed (sealed, delivered) this week.

They've also done some number-crunching and according to their stats, the bridge will house 270 trees, hold 10,000 tonnes of soil and be used by 9,000 commuters each day. Construction work on the bridge is planned to kick off this summer and finish by 2018, which means you've got plenty of time to get excited (or complain about it, depending on your viewpoint).

Have you seen the floating flower installation in central London?
