One of our favourite cinemas, the Curzon Soho, is still under threat from the Crossrail 2 development. ‘If the plans get the go-ahead in five years’ time the Soho Curzon will become an entrance/exit for Tottenham Court Road Crossrail Station,’ Ally Clow, the Curzon Soho’s general manager told us last week. He was speaking before an event launching a cheeky 90-second short film, ‘Curse for Curzon’, to raise awareness of the cinema’s plight. According to Tim Arnold, founder of Save Soho, the proposed entrance will have ‘370,000 people coming and going out of the station every three hours. Soho will be filled with backpacks.’ God help us.
