Thought turkey was just for mopping up your gravy on Christmas day or stuffing in a leftover sandwich? Not anymore. There's a new restaurant opening in Shoreditch that's putting the humble bird centre stage all year round with a turkey-themed menu. Strut & Cluck's dishes will be eastern Mediterranean-inspired, with turkey drumsticks marinated in spices with roasted vegetables, tahini and pomegranate molasses, slow-roast turkey thighs with caramelised red onions and sweet potatoes and a reinvented turkey sandwich with hand-pulled turkey, pickled onion mayo, pickled eggs and feta-stuffed peppers on grilled sourdough.
They'll also be serving up sharing dishes including Asian greens with pomegranate and roasted almonds in a sweet and spicy sauce, whole charred cauliflower with labneh, pomegranate and sumac, and 'Far East meets Middle East' turkey lettuce wraps. And for dessert? You'll be pleased to know that turkey hasn't made its way onto this part of the menu, with options including levant milk pudding with raspberry and rosewater treacle. Sadly, the restaurant doesn't officially open until spring 2016, so you'll have to go cold turkey until then.
Can't wait to try the food? Strut & Cluck is hosting a Thanksgiving pop-up at Shoreditch House for Shoreditch and Soho House members on November 25-28.
