In news that’s set to cause major travel disruption for at least six or seven people, we’ve just heard that the Emirates Air Line cable car is going to be closed all week for planned maintenance.
That’s right, if you’re planning a zippy commute from Greenwich Peninsula to Royal Docks, you’d best seek out some alternative options, because this is one oddly convoluted river crossing that’s going nowhere for seven whole days.
And then of course there’s the knock-on effect for nearby tube lines and bus routes, some of which could have to cope with up to three more passengers an hour, as stricken cable car users seek alternative routes.
So wherever you’re travelling, be warned that the closure could add several seconds to your journey time. Good luck out there, people, and stay strong.
In ever-so-slightly worse travel news, there could be more tube strikes because of the night tube.
