As lots of London falls into the hands of greedy corporations, it’s always comforting to hear that good guys still exist. This week that title goes to My Le and husband Su Tran who own Vietnamese restaurant chain Mien Tay. The duo has been secretly donating 40 per cent of their profits to charity for the past six years. They reckon their three restaurants, two in Shoreditch and one Battersea, have raised more than £250,000 since they opened. The money’s been spent on clothes, school equipment, roads, surgeries and nurseries by a charity in Vietnam. My and Su are now planning to open a not-for-profit joint called The Charity Restaurant and are looking for locations with low rent to open up in. They’re a couple of absolute heroes, that’s pho sure. Sorry, that joke is a bit....Hanoi-ing.
