If you thought that balloons were just for small children's birthdays and awkward hen parties, think again. Covent Garden's Market Building is getting a new art installation made from a whopping 100,000 balloons to form a giant bubbly cloud. The 54 metre-long installation, called 'Heartbeat', is the work of French artist Charles Pétillon who will also be showcasing his work in a pop-up gallery in the Royal Opera House Arcade. It's going to take 25 people five nights to blow-up all those balloons, so let's hope they're not relying on lung power alone. Once it's pumped up and ready to go, the installation will be open for one month from August 27. Just don't get too close if you happen to be holding any sharp objects.

'Heartbeat' will be in the south hall of the Covent Garden Market Building, WC2E. August 27–September 27.
