City envy: we want a brunch convention like LA

Londoners barely mention it, but you may have heard of this 'brunch' thing – an ingenious confluence of breakfast and lunch. Some of us seem to be quite fond of it. Well, the meal that once drove New York magazine to denounce avocado on toast as 'the most annoying thing on Instagram' clearly has a whole heap of fans in Los Angeles. So much so that in August, the city will host an entire convention dedicated to it. BrunchCon tickets go on sale at the end of next week, and will offer guests the chance to sample a smorgasbord of mid-morning glories. Restaurants from across town will be holding tastings, daytime drinking will be actively encouraged thanks to free-flowing booze, and there'll even be appearances from 'celebrity brunch influencers' (because apparently that's a thing). Worth getting out of bed for, then.

We also want San Francisco's ballpit cocktail bar and an arty minigolf course like Nottingham.
