Everyone knows that a giant water slide is pretty much the dream when it comes to summer in London. Lately there's been a lot of talk – and quite frankly a lot of empty promises – about giant slip 'n' slides coming to London. Finally, someone delivered the goods earlier this month with a 100-metre water slide in King's Cross, as part of Lipton's Rise and Slide installation.

But now we want more. Luckily, there's an even bigger and better water slide coming to Alexandra Palace in north London next month. The 150-metre inflatable slide will be at Alexandra Palace's free summer festival on July 25, but if you want to secure yourself a spot you'll need to book ahead. The 'SlideRider' is being organised by Cancer Research to raise money for the charity, so while you're whizzing down a giant slide you'll also be doing your good deed for the day. It's £20 for two goes but you can sign up now for an earlybird ticket for £15 – think of it like a Race For Life, except you don't have to do anything that even remotely resembles running.

Find out more and book your ticket here.

The SlideRider is at the Summer Festival at Alexandra Palace, N22 7AY. July 25, 11am–11pm.
