The Holborn Whippet is a dinky little boozer. And its tiny size, combined with its cracking range of beer and office-friendly location, makes drinking here a bit of a scrum. But force your way to the bar and you’re greeted with a tantalising enough array of ales to make the squash worth it – the Whippet is draught-only, which is both bold and brilliant. It’s not just the drinking that’s good, the atmosphere’s cracking too. It’s all low lighting and dark wood, making you feel like you’re supping a pint in the 1940s, waiting nervously for the air raid sirens to go off. You can’t ask for much more from a central London boozer.
