Cider marks out the Green Man from the pack, but it’s also a decent boozer in its own right. A young, loquacious crowd comes to shout over an indie soundtrack and sample London’s best choice of ciders and perries: up to ten on draft, at least twice as many by the bottle, and they even have their own ‘Green Man Special’ cider.
Purists, however, may blanch at the bottled concoctions such as pear and strawberry ciders from Brothers. Beer is also a strength, with three ales supplemented by foreign obscurities.
Friendly young staff, regular events (including a monthly meeting of the London Air-Accordion Society) and a decent pub-grub menu are further attractions, as is the interior: high plastered ceilings, bare floorboards and a cosy back area with padded leather banquettes, plus a mellower, more modish bar upstairs.
