Time Out says

Not to be confused with the Packhorse & Talbot down the road, this traditional Fuller’s pub dates back to the days of the Chiswick Empire, which explains both the ‘Empire Bar’ legend carved into the back bar and the posters and memorabilia in the back room.

The interior is indeed a beauty, the three rooms kept in good shape by attentive staff. It’s a fine, relaxing place to enjoy a football match; each of the many televisions seems to be surrounded by comfortable furniture.

Groups can opt for any one of four big spreads from the Thai menu, but if you’re just after a bite at half-time, a couple of the starters should do. There are no surprises among the standard wines and Fuller’s ales, but sometimes no surprises is a good thing.
