Step inside this Archway pub and you might feel like you’ve stepped inside a giant box of After Eights. The Victorian interior has had a sensitive refurbishment which accentuates its grand proportions: soaring black pillars, partitions, gilding, chandeliers, polished glass and light percolating through an atrium roof in the back bar.
The price of a round is just as high as any other London pub, but you get a good selection for your money. Beers on tap include Beavertown, London Pride and Hammerton's N1.
The simple pub food is of the pad Thai and burger variety: filling, if not quite good enough to make this a destination gastropub. Come instead for the lovely interiors, fab beers, and the Tuesday pub quiz.
