The British Library's major autumn 2012 exhibition focuses on the Mughal Empire, which encompassed the Indian subcontinent, Central Asia and parts of the Middle East from the sixteenth to the nineteenth centuries. The show features treasures from the Library's Central and South Asian collections and loans including jewel-like paintings, manuscripts and objects that reveal the drama behind the Mughal court (rife with poisonings, love affairs and passion for knowledge and power), as well as the impact the empire had on modern India, including the Taj Mahal and the Red Fort.
