Ryoji Ikeda: spectra

On Aug 4 Lights Out, a nationwide black out to commemorate Germany declaring war on Russia in 1914, was launched with an illuminating Artangel commission. Japanese artist Ryoji Ikeda has created a mesmerising light installation that beams up into the sky from 49 searchlights installed at Victoria Tower gardens. This memorialising column of light will be visible from dusk (approximately 9pm) until dawn (approximately 5am) over the next six days.
