This year’s Curating Contemporary Art alumni are up to speed with the latest high-falutin’ theories on the irony of global online alienation, while also being down with the kids and their internet memes. But, instead of cute kitties there is a short video of animal despair, ‘Drowning Dog’, and a startling short by a female artist filming crotchwards from her concealed ‘Surveillance Shoe’, rather than salacious up-skirt images of celebs. Digital art is now becoming a ‘look’ in Jack Strange’s endlessly scrolling Word document thanks to a forever depressed keyboard, and in Raphael Hefti’s glass sheets resembling oily colour corrections. Curatorial fillips are supplied by an Arab Spring documentary collective, an Eastern-European newshound and an underground server bunker housing Wikileaks data. Switched on.
