Greenhouse by Muir (CLOSED)

This light-filled ‘warehouse’ next to Gleneagles hospital on Jalan Ampang is an ambitious space. On the ground floor, you’ll find Japanese food hall Kuroshio market, Evendough bakery and a café. The food hall serves hot dishes (teriyaki chicken, tempura, gyoza and the likes) while next to it, a fresh seafood section where you can order freshly sliced sashimi and sushi. The selection is quite impressive; we spotted salmon, king crab and scallops.

Tucked in a corner at the back is the bakery, where you’ll find interesting types of bread such as Japanese curry buns as well as cranberry and red wine loaves. The café that greets you at the entrance has the usual coffee drinks, but their speciality appears to be tea, which comes in multiple concoctions and uses various brewing methods. Cold-pressed juices and craft beers are also available. For now, seating is limited to a scattering of tables indoors and out by the courtyard, plus a long communal table.

The upper floors are currently closed, but they will feature two new restaurants later this year.
