Alexis is an uber-cool kind of place. Wood-fire oven, a contemporary menu of Asian and Western food, extensive wine list, beautiful cakes and pastries fresh each day, and frequent popular live jazz performances.
Thanks to the authentic oven, their pizzas are light, crispy and perfect for sharing, while their Asian dishes—the chicken briyani is particularly satisfying—are packed with spices and flavours. For dessert, their famously delicious home-made cakes are well worth a try. All meals are presented in an inspired, unique manner, so that even old favourites are given a new look.
But —and there is a but—there are two things that stop Alexis Bistro, in either of their Bangsar outlets or in Great Eastern Mall on Jalan Ampang, getting an unequivocal thumbs up. Firstly, the soft drinks. You pay RM9 or RM11 for a drink that comes from a can, only it is served up in a small glass, full of ice, and there is no sign of what is left (and there would be a fair bit left!) in that can.
Apart from that, you will find chic interior in all the branches, the finest music in the town courtesy of local jazz talent as well as numerous international stars.
Alexis Bistro has other outlets at Jalan Ampang, Bangsar Shopping Centre and The Gardens.
