Editor's note: Prasac is closed with no immediate plans to reopen.

Very much the talk of Zagreb's foodie fraternity since opening its doors in 2008, Prasac ('The Pig') is the brainchild of Dino Galvagno, the Sicilian-born, German-trained chef who worked in top-class restaurants throughout Croatia before finally getting the chance to boss his own place. The food is predominantly Mediterranean with an innovative, frequently unpredictable twist – the menu is improvised daily on the basis of what's fresh in the market. Both the chef and the knowledgeable sommelier are happy to advise, and pretty much everything you order here will be worth the money. With rustic-looking wooden furniture and space for only 18 diners, it's a warm and intimate setting. Just be sure to reserve.
