If you’ve been looking for oil paintings of Chicago athletes, this one-stop diner is the place for you. The diner was established in 1954, and everything here—from the clothes-pinned order slips above the grill to the Hamilton Beach milkshake machines—is a throwback. Malts are wet cement–thick, and freshly ground beef patties are topped with sweet caramelized onions on pillowy white buns and arrive with a nest of crispy “curly-q” fries.
