Riverwest Music Festival announces inaugural lineup

Here come more fireworks for your Fourth of July weekend. Or, well, lasers and bass, the fireworks of the 21st century. We know what you're thinking: Does Chicago need another three-day music festival? Well, yes. In the past few summers, that holiday weekend has played host to Wavefront Music Festival at Montrose Beach. However, noise complaints harshed the vibe of that electronic music event, killing it for 2014.

Now, the very similarly minded and booked Riverwest Music Festival will bring dance music fans to another body of water, the Chicago River. The three-day festival hits the corner of Division and Elston Streets, July 4–6. That's the same location as the Estate Ultra Bar and Yacht Club. So pull up your pleasure boat and sit on the rooftop?

Like Wavefront, Riverwest leans a little more intellectual and deep house than the dubstep and trance favoring Spring Awakening. But both will make you move. Major names include Rusko, Erick Morillo, DJ Koze, Damian Lazarus, Guy Gerber, Morgan Page, Jamie Jones… and many more. Check out the complete bill below. It's a solid lineup, one that should not succomb to the epic fail that was riverside Third Rail Music Festival. Though, it's an eerily similar lineup to Wavefront 2013, which also brought Rusko, Gerber, Jones, Morillo, Apollonia, DJ Tennis, etc.

Tickets for the festival are $149 (early bird has sold out). It's a big weekend for EDM, as Afrojack hits Navy Pier that Saturday, too.
