Nicholas Phillips

Truly a postmodern pianist, Phillips works in homages to Billy Joel, De La Soul and John Fahey in his American Vernacular: New Music for Solo Piano recital. The Frequency Series gig packs in Chicago premieres of 10 pieces, including works by locals Luke Gullickson and Ben Hjertmann. But frankly we really want to hear "Bill•ytude" and "III. Stakes is Higher: hommage à Ahmad Jamal and De La Soul" which bookend the set.
