Mark McGuire + Chemtrails + Spa Moans

As a member of the defunct Cleveland-based ambient trio Emeralds, guitarist Mark McGuire helped craft restrained instrumental melodies that grew out of his involvement with noise and drone music. His latest solo record, Beyond Belief, is a densely layered, meticulously arranged blend of guitars, synths and drum machines—each note played by McGuire himself. Riddled with aspirational messages and sampled childhood recordings, it's a wall of sound that aspires to be more than simply cacophonous.
