Signal Ensemble Theatre has announced the lineup and partial casting for its 13th season, comprising three plays new to Chicago. The season opens in the fall with the U.S. premiere of Butcher (September 17–October 24), a war-crimes thriller by Canadian playwright Nicolas Billon; Bries Vannon will direct a cast that includes Vincent Lonergan, Simone Roos, Joseph Stearns and Andy Hager.
Ronan Marra will helm The Consultant (January 21–February 27), a workplace comedy by Heidi Schreck, featuring Ariel Begley, Courtney Jones, Joe McCauley, Maggie Cain and Ben Chang. It will mark Schreck's second Chicago premiere in a matter of months, as her Grand Concourse is set for a Steppenwolf bow this summer.
Finally, Signal ensemble member will adapt and direct The Southern Women (May 5–June 11), a new take on Euripides' The Trojan Women that shifts the action to the aftermath of the American Civil War. No casting has been announced for the latter.
