There are not many things that make us look forward to January in Chicago. Thankfully, the good people at Schubas and Lincoln Hall deliver a perennially entertaining music (and comedy) festival every dead winter. Today, the venues announced the lineup for the 2015 edition of its annual Tomorrow Never Knows music festival, slated January 14–18. Typically, the event is a showcase for up-and-coming acts. There is certainly an abundance of those—the jangling guitar pop of Alvvways, the chirpy grunge of Sun Club, the, er, bells and whistles of weirdo folkies the Whistles & The Bells. Yet the '15 bill also brings a bunch of veteran acts like Hamilton Leithauser, the Both (Aimee Mann & Ted Leo), Cloud Nothings, Zola Jesus and the Grifters. Those seeking some laughs can check out stand-up from Tim Heidecker and Cameron Esposito (read our recent interview with her). Five-day passes are $100. Individual concerts take place at Schubas, Lincoln Hall, Athenaeum Theatre and the Metro and go on sale Friday. Click the links above for individual tickets.
