Life as a musician demands late nights, long hours and plenty of coffee breaks. That's probably why Chicago coffee roasters have a long history of collaborating with musicians and record labels: Intelligentsia roasted batches of Wilco- and St. Vincent–themed beans, while Dark Matter has developed blends for Mastadon and the Numero Group.

Local label Thrill Jockey Records is the latest to join the caffeinated fray, teaming up with Dark Matter to develop the Doom Chuggy blend, which celebrates metal and psych rock. The heavy theme is translated into a specialty blend that features "a roasted, molasses body and chewy dark chocolate finish."

The limited release coffee comes with a Thrill Jockey–curated mixtape on CD or cassette to serenade your daily java fix, including music by Liturgy, Oozing Wound, White Hills and Wrekmeister Harmonies. Chicago artist Sam Nigrosh provides the wonderfully macabre art that graces the packaging. You can pre-order it now and look forward to enjoying a rejuvenating cup of the dark brew during the next Polar Vortex.
