Chance the Rapper will help kick off the White Sox home opener

Friday is shaping up to be a great day for Chicago-based fans of hip-hop superstar Chance the Rapper. Not only is the West Chatham native headlining the Chicago Theatre on April 8, according to the Sun-Times he'll also be throwing out the first pitch during the White Sox home opener at U.S. Cellular Field. Chance's love of the South Side team is no secret—he can frequently be seen sporting a White Sox cap and the logo used by his backing band, the Social Experiment, depicts the name of the team.

For some reason, Chance was not tapped to sing the national anthem at the game (through we're sure we would have done a great job). That honor will go to Goo Goo Dolls lead singer John Rzeznik, who will belt out the tune before the game begins at 3:10pm.

This won't be the first time that Chance has sent a baseball soaring across home plate at the home of the White Sox. Check out footage of the pitch he threw at U.S. Cellular Field in 2014:
