Just a few days after he warmed our hearts with his stellar performance on Saturday Night Live, Chance the Rapper is trying to bring a bit of warmth to Chicago's homeless population. Yesterday, the local emcee sat down with Chicago hip-hop radio station 107.5 WGCI to talk about his new Warmest Winter fundraising campaign, which seeks to raise money to buy 1,000 insulated winter coats for Chicagoans in need. The coats will be provided by Empowerment Plan, a Detroit-based company that employs homeless women to make coats that are then distributed to homeless people.

Chance is collecting donations through his website, with a goal of raising $100,000 to buy the specially manufactured coats. Individuals who donate at specific levels will be entered into drawings to win tickets to a Bulls game, a White Sox game (naturally) or a future Chance the Rapper concert. If you have a little extra cash to help some of your fellow Chicagoans before the year ends, a small donation could help save someone's life.
