If this insanely huge, bright and airy Bucktown home isn't paradise, then what is?
The five-bed, 3.5-bath palace at 2215 W McLean Avenue is a custom design from the Chicago-based Studio Dwell Architects and spans no less than three city lots. Studio Dwell dubbed the project "Bucktown One," and it's now worth $3.3 million—for good reason.
To say this is one of the most well-equipped at-home kitchens in Chicago would not be an exaggeration. The appliances are a combination of high-end models by Miele, Wolf and Sub-Zero and are all neatly recessed into the walls. The range is set into the center island. White Copat Italian cabinets line the space and radiant titanium-coated oak floors, giving off a feeling of effortless luxury.
Through the adjacent dining room is the living room, which the current owner has converted into a recreation area. Tall glass windows look out onto the spacious backyard, where there's also a heated plunge pool, which is fancy for a really big hot tub without all the jets. A separate living room has its own fireplace.
The stairs are partitioned with a long sheets of glass that extend upstairs to a hall and sitting area that overlooks the ground floor. Each of the bedrooms are very, very large—the smallest is 13-by-13 feet—and have the same lavish oak flooring as the kitchen. The master bathroom is heavenly, floored in small white and gray tile and furnished with a gigantic double walk-in shower, a separate tub and double sinks. And if that weren't enough, this place has a steam room and sauna...with a wet bar and wine fridge. There's also a fitness room, but you probably won't be using that very much anyway.
Competing with the kitchen for the best space is the truly immense deck on the second floor. It's a whopping 50-by-20 feet and has a spiral staircase ascending to the roof, where you can see the five-car garage.
