Time Out says

It seems like everywhere you turn there’s a Man V Food-inspired smokehouse these days, but Grillstock is ahead of the curve – and it shows in its delivery of authentic, quality pit food and low 'n' slow barbecue fare.

The Lockjaw Burger (£14.50 with fries and 'slaw) typifies Grillstock's raison-d’être, comprising two 5oz burgers, piles of pulled pork, brisket, burnt ends, melted cheese, house pickles and a smothering of fry sauce, all stacked nine inches high and speared with a steak knife, served on a tray that wouldn't look out of place in Folsom Prison.

Don't skip the fixin's (sides) either. BBQ Beans (£3) are especially good, and sweet cornbread (standard with most plates, or £1.50 on its own) is perfect for mopping up any juicy leftovers.

A fine selection of ale, lager and IPA bourbons (including the great Pickleback) are also available to wet your whistle. The only downside is a frustrating no-booking rule and awkward seating arrangement that means you’re watched over by folks who are waiting for their fix of fixin's as you finish yours.
