With the start of Pride Week just a few days away, Bristol is getting ready for a packed schedule of festivities culminating with the city's largest ever parade on June 11, which starts at Queen Square from 10am.

Before then, there will be plenty of opportunities to experience why Bristol Pride has been voted one of the UK's top Pride festivals, namely with a multi-sensory opening party at Projekt on Baldwin Street.

According to Mike Pony, organiser of the Horseplay Synaesthesia event, Bristol Pride has never had an opening party before, and this event will deliver an evening of "house, disco, art, liberty and sleaze" that promises to push the boundaries of clubbing.

Synaesthesia is a club experience that will stimulate audiences not only through audio and visual effects (thanks to Projekt's video projection walls), but also scent, taste and touch. Clubbers are encouraged to join is as much as possible, by donning edible outfits, or wearing ultraviolet clothing.

Tunes will come courtesy of Shambarber resident Billy Disney, with AV artist Panther Panther live-mixing the visuals all evening. There will also be performance art from London-based artists I'm With You, and aerial performance from Mike McCallum and Tabitha Tease. Let's not forget, drag legends Princess Nails and Lady Fingers will be on hand to entertain, too.

"Horseplay Synaesthesia mixes our love of hedonistic clubbing with our lust for fully immersive experiences. It's an all-out assault on the senses incorporating fire, streamers, scent, lasers, aerial, video and an explosion of bizarre artistic performances from our stable of avant-gogo dancers," says Pony.

Tickets cost £10 in advance and are available from the Bristol Ticket Shop.

Horseplay Synaesthesia, Projekt, Baldwin Street, Saturday July 4, 11pm-4am.
