Brazilian DJ and producer Marky is one of the biggest names in global dance music, famed for his love affair with Bristol jungle and drum & bass. Ahead of his set at Lakota on Friday June 5 at the massive The Blast vs Psyched 'Experience' party, we tracked Marky down and asked him to share five of his all-time favourite jungle and D&B tunes to come out of our city.

Read (and listen) on for five Bristol tracks that changed his life...

Roni Size & DJ Die – 'Music Box' (1994)
'For me, this was the first tune and first time I heard and recognised the real Bristol jungle vibe. The combination between jazz and drum 'n' bass was mind blowing.'

Roni Size: Reprazent – 'Western' (1997)
'This is an important track for me. I remember coming back to Brazil from my first time in the UK. I had a gig playing in a train carriage and there were a lot of fashion models in the crowd. Drum 'n' bass wasn’t really big in Brazil at the time, but the funny thing was that these models were from London, so they all knew the track and went crazy. In the train carriage, there was a guy who came up to me after the set and told me that he'd opened a new club and he wanted me to play there. I ended up playing in that club for 10 years afterwards. One crazy train ride.'

Gang Related & Mask – 'Numbers' (1996)
'Another Roni Size and DJ Krust classic, under their Dope Dragon alter egos. This track is a crazy one, because it's from 1996, and I still play it in 2015 and people come up to me and ask if it's a new tune!'

DJ Die – 'Drop Bear' (1999)
''Drop Bear' reminds me of the period when I started my career in the UK. At the time, this track totally blew my mind and I couldn't stop playing it.'

TC – 'Strictly Drum & Bass' (2007)
'From my point of view, this is one of the best drum 'n' bass tracks ever; it was very different to anything else around when it was released and it brings back the old Bristol vibe. I remember when TC gave it to me. A lot of people asked me "What is this tune?" Everybody was crazy about this track; when I said it was TC people couldn’t believe it. It just shows that good quality music can come from anywhere and anyone.'
