As far as Christmas parties go, having one inside a 1920s travelling ballroom must be one of the most unusual around. Yes, Christmas at the Spiegeltent is returning to Bristol Harbourside from November 27 until December 19, bringing with it a diverse line-up of music, performance, comedy and fine dining.
Although only in its fourth year, the opulent tent has become an institution in Bristol's festive calendar. As such, many of the party slots – which come complete with a three course dinner, cabaret performance and live music – are selling out fast.
Don't worry if you miss out on one of these, though, as there'll still be plenty of opportunities to get inside the big tent:
Fully embracing the vintage atmosphere of the Spiegeltent are White Mink's Electro Swing Speakeasy on November 27 and retro swing trio The Puppini Sisters on December 9.
On November 28, UK dance music veteran Greg Wilson sits on the bill, alongside brass band outfit Hackney Colliery Band, afrobeat collective No Go Stop, and party starters Bodywork DJs.
December 5 boasts DJs Norman Jay, Typesun and Bristol Hi-Fi, along with DJ duo Nextmen and laid-back electro duo Zero 7.
Mixing things up further is a show from comedian Al Murray the Pub Landlord on December 13, plus a rare performance from the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah band on December 5, who'll be drawing on a 50 year music career.
During the course of the Spiegeltent's run, there'll also be several family friendly events (including a Kids' Masquerade Ball and Baby Disco) and a weekend Beer Festival on December 5-6, too.
